Boulsover, Thomas

(1706, Elkington, Derbyshire, Inglaterrra–sep. 1788, Sheffield).

Inventor británico del enchapado fusionado ("antiguo plaqué de Sheffield). En su calidad de artesano de la compañía de cuchillería Cutlers Co. descubrió en 1743, al estar reparando un mango de cuchillo de cobre y plata, que ambos metales se podían fusionar y que cuando se pasaban por un laminador, se comportaban como un solo metal. Su invento abrió el camino a la producción económica de una gran variedad de objetos enchapados, desde botones y cajas de rapé, que él mismo fabricaba, hasta servicios de mesa (p. ej., juegos de té) y utensilios que pronto fabricaron en gran cantidad otros trabajadores de Sheffield.
